Frame Vastgoed and Van Omme & De Groot Project developers and builders have concluded a building contract for the construction of the luxury apartment complex Bay House and the adjacent MGallery by Sofitel hotel in the Rotterdam Rijnhaven District.
Preparatory work for the start of construction will commence in December 2019. Bay House and the Sofitel hotel (working title "The View") are expected to be ready for delivery two and a half years later.
Director Development & Realization at Frame Real Estate, Rick van Heumen, is delighted about the collaboration: "We have found a very competent partner in Van Omme & De Groot with whom we share the same Rotterdam mentality, which makes working together pleasant."
Olaf Lange, commercial director at Van Omme & De Groot: "We are proud to be able to participate in the realization of such a beautiful and special project as Bay House and Sofitel in our own city."
Bay House will be a luxury apartment complex of around 88 owner-occupied apartments and 22 rental apartments. More than three-quarters of the apartments have already been sold. The MGallery by Sofitel hotel will consist of more than 200 rooms, a restaurant, rooftop bar, terrace, wellness center and event space.
The start of the construction of Bay House and the Sofitel hotel marks a new phase in the successful area developments on the Wilhelminapier and Katendrecht, where a large number of major projects will start in the upcoming period. The adjacent Porter House projects (a residential tower on the old "Jumbo location", equipped with a new Jumbo food market and "Galleria" with various stores) and the transformation of the monumental coffee warehouse Santos - in which the German design department store Stilwerk will be located - will also be part of this. The renovation of the Brede Hilledijk will also follow, which will give the entrance to Katendrecht the appearance and quality it deserves.
Councilor Bas Kurvers responded on behalf of the municipality: "On behalf of the municipality, I congratulate Frame and Van Omme & De Groot for entering into this agreement. The start of The View herewith heralds an ambitious development of this part of Katendrecht. This substantial development program requires strong parties who want to put their shoulders to the wheel together."
